This performance is dedicated to my unborn brother who had to be aborted and more than one generation that has to deal with the lifelong aftermath of one-child policy (1980-2015).

The whole performance symbolises a distorted combination of a birthday celebration that never really took place and a funeral that deserves to be remembered. On an individual level, this performance also opens conversations between the audience and the artist on how to forget/remember/honour an aborted life and a lost kin.

The number of candles I lighted up represents the age he would have been at the year 2020. The colour of white is traditionally the funeral colour in my heritage culture.
